Art train Cosmic Underground
Cosmic Underground – a fantastic art train from Estonia to Portugal A two-month trip takes the art train from Tallinn through Europe to Guimarães. A magnificent but also intimate performance is given in the cities where the train stops. The script of the performances is based on the ten audio-visual installations which are presented in the goods wagon, theatre performances and live music. It will be a multidimensional experience in time where science and art meet. The aim of the project is to bring people together and to overcome historical, cultural and linguistic differences. The infrastructure of the European railway becomes a means of supporting dialogue and equality.
As a result of a complex logistics planning, the performance is shown in 14 cities in six European countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic and Portugal. 20 artists from four countries (Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Portugal) are involved in the project. From Estonia - Eva Tallo, Elo Liiv, Raoul Kurvitz, Lokaal Raadio and Flo Kasearu. You do not even need a train ticket to take part in the Cosmic Underground – an hour of your time is all you need. In return, you get to be part of an unforgettable living laboratory of knowledge and imagination which is almost as cosmic as the underground itself.Â
The performances start: - 20-21.09 at 18, 19.30, 21, 22.30
- 22.09 at 18, 19.30, 21. Free, but there are limited number of tickets. Tickets are available in the festival information centre, Von Krahl and KUMU. Tickets have to be registered in the website (www.cosmicunderground.eu) where you can choose date and time for your visit. On Saturday at 22.30 the train will be sent on the road with concert in front of the Balti Jaam´s building. Everyone are welcome: LokaalRaadio’s radio show „Groundhog Day“ borrows its name from the film with the same name, where the characters become stuck in and endless time warp – in the so-called time capsule. Katrin Essenson, Hello Upan and Raul Keller are looking for a way out, stretching and dislocating time using improvised and pre-recorded sound and text, electromechanical and traditional instruments like radios and dictaphones and discovering all over how time plays tricks on themselves and the listeners. As appropriate to a radio show, the performance is broadcasted live from the site at the frequency of 107,2 Mhz FM. The event is in cooperation with Valgusfestival.
