INSCRIPTION PROJECT/URBAN GAME
The main idea of the INSCRIPTION PROJECT is to act in an urban space using recovered inscriptions, neon signs and logotypes. The inscriptions are the abandoned elements of Polish architecture created in 70´s and 80´s showing various typographical styles of those times. Each one of these inscriptions is like a live visiting card of the times it comes from. In Poland it was the time of communism. The inscriptions don’t pay homage to the system – they are monuments to people, who lived, loved and worked in those places. URBAN GAME combines three huge inscriptions in the urban space of Tallinn. The first word is UNIWERSAM (Shopping Centre), the second is ELANA (fabric factory) and the third is IZBA PRZYJĘĆ (hospital). Every inscription is a neon sign that doesn’t work anymore. That is why the only highlighted elements are words generated in Estonian by using Polish words. This is a key to understand the installation.Â
