Fashion event The Third Wardrobe
This is a (fashion)theatre experiment, which integrates staged fashion, movement and new media in an enriched environment. The stage productionis a collaborative effort of Liisa Soolepp (fashion design), Svetlana Bogomolova (media art), Tarmo Tagamets (stage direction), Mihkel Ehala (interior design) and will be one of the few interdisciplinary projects of such scale in Estonia.
Thesubject of the show are the signals received by our senses and thesubsequent interpretation of these signals based on personalexperiences. The subjective nature of such interpretation leads toproblems that elicit deep-rooted attitudes. Our aim is to channel ourvision through other perspectives. Â
Fashion Collection:The collection is created using fabrics designed by Liisa Sooleppherself and monitors the process from appallment to beauty andconsumption. The underlying theme is the manipulation with the sense ofbeauty based on perception and subjectivity. The artist uses suchtechniques as symmetry, rhythm, shifts in scale and alienation from theoriginal context in order to show beauty where we are not accustomed toseeing it. The fabrics are created by silk painting, as well as foiland embossing which yield fascinating results in different combinations.
Multimedia solutions:Video projections and LEDs utilized by Svetlana Bogomolova arecontextually closely linked and associated with the surroundings andthe action. People and objects will transform with the help ofprojection for the purposes of illustrating the diffusive bounds ofreality. An object acquires its true meaning only in relation toothers. LEDs are small autonomous sources of light, that are a veryexpressive elements due to their brightness and unusual utilization. Some of the LEDs have been programmed to react to changes in theirimmediate surroundings, the movement of performers. In addition, someLEDs are used in costumes as well. |
