Exhibition “Wearable images / photo + jewelleryâ€
The exhibition features works by Eilve Manglus, Kadri Mälk, Kaire Rannik, Piia Ruber, Anneli Tammik, Ketli Tiitsar, Kertu Tuberg and Maria Valdma. Curator is Margot Kask. The exhibits present pieces of jewellery as portable valuables in both the direct and metaphorical sense. The role of photography in this exhibition is more often than not notional, referring to imaginary and mental images. The interrelationship between the form and the image in a piece of jewellery which contains a photograph is multi-faceted. The piece of jewellery can provide a frame for the photo or act as a chest, meaning it can provide a means for presenting the photo, but it can also be the vessel which keeps the photo afloat. The accessory can carry the photo like we carry our thoughts and memories and wear our accessories – sometimes it is a conscious and thoughtfully chosen expression of ourselves but sometimes it is a coincidental choice and we let the piece of jewellery wear out or lose it without even noticing
