Gala: Opening of VIII Design Night, award ceremony for the competition “Back to the Estonian Roots†and fashion show “Reet Aus in Beximcoâ€
Time: 26.09 at 20 Venue: The Tent of Design Night Festival, Tartu mnt 1 Ticket: 15/12 eurot (students, pensioners, invalids, members of the Estonian Association of Designers). Tickets can be bought in the Estonian Design House and Design Night tent.
All the foreign guests, festival programme participants, nominees of the competition “Back to the Estonian Roots†and other design people are invited to the Design Night gala. At event the winners of the competition “Back to the Estonian Roots†are rewarded and the fashion show which presents the collection “Reet Aus in Beximco†is presented. The clothing collection made of industrial textile waste from Bangladesh is presented by designers dressed as models.
The authors of the musical performance are also designers and architects by profession. 3 Pead gives a performance. Light snacks and Estonian drinks are served to the guests.
Reet Aus, Trash To Trend presents the brand Reet Aus in Beximco Presentation of the new collection of upcycling in mass-production Spring/summer 2014Â
Reet Aus, an upcycling designer and researcher since 2007, has taken  the upcycling concept to a totally new level.Â
Incidental knock on the door to look for the origin of a pair of pants sold in EU and gather  materials for her documentary took her to Beximco. The largest fabric  and garment producer in Bangladesh friendly welcomed her team to start the trials of upcycling in mass-production. Now, after a year of  partnership, the concept  has  proven to work with great results.Â
While producing for larger brands, upcycling can be implemented in the regular processes of Beximco. But upcycling also enables to create smaller exclusive collections as the spring/summer 2014 collection by Reet Aus, presented among the luxury brands in  Berlin Green Showroom. It presents smart casual outfits for both men and women using craftwork details and interesting combination of materials.  Each garment in the collection carries a label with a unique calculation of the environmental impact of the style. The collection saves on  average 4500 liters / 78% of water and creates 2273 g / 86% less CO2  emission per each new garment.  Aus Design Studio is located in the Estonia Design House Kalasadama 8, Tallinn
