Marta Cycles`, the young fashion brand, collection has been created using nylon and cotton parachutes that have been decommissioned by the Russian army. This collection is inspired by stories of women making clothes out of parachutes in the 1940s. There is no combining of materials in one product. In addition to upcycling the collection has been made according to zero-waste principles. This means that all of the fabric is used in making the clothes. This results in unconventional cuts and new silhouettes.

Liisa Soolepp
Liisa Soolepp has graduated Tartu Art College (University of Applied Sciences) in textile design in 2008. Since then she has been operating as freelancer as theater artist, costume- and fashion designer. Her main interest in the field of design is related to knitwear. Her purpose is to create woven garments that are unique but also practical and possible to be produced in a small series.
In the collection the author has put emphasis on patterns, which reflects in knittings and embroideries. While creating the patterns the author has played with the sense of beauty that derives from perception and subjectivity; and the shift of symmetry, the rhythm; dispossessing the object from its original context. Archetypical geometrical signs meet contemporary sense of life, to have effect of timeless and modern feeling.
